Is Decluttr.com a good place to sell books, movies and DVD’s

If you’re looking for places online to sell-off unwanted media items, you might look at Decluttr , especially if you don’t have a local buyback store near you.

Decluttr has an easy-to-use process where you just have to scan or type in the ISBN or UPC code. They buy more DVD’s and CD’s than books and pay more for audio visual media. They also take used tech such as mobile phones.

On the downside, It can be frustrating selling books because you have to enter a high volume to find profitable items to send in.

For online booksellers, using the pricing estimator involves placing the cursor back in the data field every time so that slows the process down but if you have 50 or 100 media items, there is a good chance you can make $30 to $60 for a box. They offer a free shipping label as well.

Once that’s done you just have to accept their terms and conditions, and choose a method to get paid. Paypal and direct response are the fastest and God bless them they will also mail you a check. I just picked Paypal and in that case all they need is an email address for your Paypal account.

Tips about Decluttr

A couple of things. I suggest you create an account. This will allow you to save your list for up to 14 days and return to it as you will have to go through at least 100 media pieces or more before finding enough to fill a box.

Also The Welcome Pack is confusing. The Welcome Pack includes your free shipping label. To get it immediately choose to have it emailed it.

You may be wondering, what about a download. Well you can do that to, just choose the email option. See in the following screen shot that I have highlighted a link to view your Welcome Pack.

You will come to this screen. Click download and print.

Finally, fer you’ve printed your label and contents list, make sure you include the contents list in the box before you tape it up.

So if your local bookstore isn’t an option for buying media products, you prefer just to check out buyback prices from the comfort of your home or you want to check items that local bookstores wouldn’t take, check out Decluttr. If you have questions feel free to contact me through our form – Matt
